My doctoral research project focuses on documenting and describing diatopic variation in Francoprovençal through the analysis of discourse related to the practices and representations of traditional Alpine medicine in the Savoie States.
As a native speaker of Francoprovençal in its Savoyard variant from the Albanais region, I am conducting fieldwork based on the collection of oral testimonies from other native speakers in Switzerland, France and Italy concerning care practices provided to humans and animals.
These data, which are recorded, transcribed and translated, form a corpus of ethnotexts intended to contribute to the preservation, transmission and revitalisation of a language and cultural medicinal knowledge that have been marginalised and are now under threat.
This research also aims to analyse social dynamics and the effects of different cross‑border language policies on the vitality of Francoprovençal and ancestral healing methods.
In parallel with this work, I teach literature in China and, as a holder of a State Bachelor in Traditional Chinese Medicine, I also conduct research in comparative ethnopharmacology.
