The expression of motion (e.g., walking into a building) shows robust inter typological variation between language types (e.g., satellite framed English vs. verb framed Spanish), more nuanced intra typological variation within language types (e.g., English vs. Polish, both satellite framed), and further intra linguistic variability within individual languages. This study investigates whether these patterns extend to change of state events (e.g., painting a wall red, hammering a rod straight) by analyzing written descriptions elicited through a visual task from native speakers of two satellite framed languages (English and Polish) and one verb framed language (Spanish). This work aims to clarify the scope of cross and intra linguistic variability across event types and the extent to which motion based typologies generalize to change of state events.
