ven. 08/11/2019 Negation in Nomatsigenga
14h-16h
ISH, salle Berty Albrecht
Conférence de :
  • Antonio Ramirez Castillo (University of Sonora, Hermosillo)

dans le cadre DTT : Atelier Morphosyntaxe

In this talk, I will provide a descriptive analysis of the negative constructions in Nomatsigenga (not), a Kampa-Arawak language spoken in the Selva Central area of Peru by approximately 4000 individuals. This talk mainly addresses two aspects: 1) the types of negative construction exhibited in the language (e.g. standard negation, prohibitives, negation of non-verbal predications) and the negation strategies involved, and 2) the complex interaction between the domain of negation and reality status (Elliot 2000). It will be seen that, although there are some other lexical and grammatical items expressing negation, the most frequent negation strategy involve the two particles te(ni) and kero, and, most importantly, that negation is one parameter that always triggers “irreality”.

ven. 15/11/2019 DTT/HELAN2 - Marc TANG (DDL): "EVOGRAM: Modeling the evolution of language systems with linguistic and non-linguistic factors"
14h-15h30
ISH - salle Ennat Léger

Both linguistic and non-linguistic factors have been attested to have an effect on the emergence and the evolution of language systems. On the one hand, linguistic factors relate to semantic, morphosyntax, phonology, and pragmatics. On the other hand, non-linguistic factors may relate to environmental factors, iconicity, and cognitive biases. The project aims at 1) compiling and host a database of linguistic structure and non-linguistic factors 2) modeling with computational methods the horizontal/proximal transmission and vertical/phylogenetic transmission of language systems. Language areas and families for which data is robust are used to tune the model. Then, the analysis is expanded to languages with scarce data and/or an opaque evolutionary process of language systems.

jeu. 21/11/2019 DTT Atelier Phonological Typology: Stress, syllabification and empty morphs in Araona (Takana)
14:00-15:30
ISH - Salle Ennat Léger

"Stress, syllabification and empty morphs in Araona"
Adam Tallman

This talk will provide a detailed discussion of the stress rules in Araona and their relationship to syllabification and morphological structure. After providing a review of Araona segmental phonology, I will discuss the stress rule in Araona. The Araona stress rule seems simple; (i) stress on the second syllable if the phonological “word” contains more than two syllables; (ii) stress on the first syllable if the phonological “word” contains just two syllables. However, the maintaining the simplicity of the analysis is dependent on a few other assumptions about syllabification. In certain verb complexes a dropped empty morph /e/ (present in other forms) must be imputed in order to maintain the stress rule. The stress rule also requires that the relatively sonorous /e/ be syllabified as a coda consonant in certain circumstances. Finally, certain noun – modifier combinations (e.g. noun + plural or noun + adjective) would have to vary in terms of whether they are treated as a single stress domain or not.

ven. 22/11/2019 Negation in Martinican (creole, Martinique)
14h-16h
MSH, salle Ennat Léger
Conférence de :
  • Minella Duzerol (DDL)

dans le cadre DTT : Atelier morphosyntaxe

This talk aims at describing some of the negative constructions available in Martinican (creole, Martinique), identifying and classifying the morphemes involved in these negative constructions. Relying on narrations and descriptions produced by native speakers as well as elicitations, I consider first clausal negation (1). I look at negative predication in both main/independent and subordinate clauses. Two negative markers, pa and , are involved and present specific distributions accordind to the predicates. I also describe two temporal meanings that have specific markers in negative constructions : not yet and no more. Then, I describe how non clausal negation is expressed focusing on negative indefinites and negative quantifiers (2).

mer. 27/11/2019 Développement du lexique précoce chez des enfants français monolingues : analyse des différences inter-individuelles via des approches complémentaires et une prise en compte des contextes de production
14h30
Salle 101, IUT Jean Moulin, 88 rue Pasteur, Lyon 7ème
Soutenance de doctorat de : Ludivine Glas

Cette thèse vise à étudier les trajectoires développementales du lexique en production et leurs variations selon les enfants ; plus spécifiquement, il s’agit de montrer l’apport de méthodes complémentaires et l’importance de l’exploration du contexte de production des mots lors des observations spontanées en milieu naturel pour mieux interpréter les différences inter-individuelles.

ven. 29/11/2019 A preliminary account of negation in Bolivian Guarani
14h-16h
ISH, salle André Frossard
Conférence de :
  • Oscar Cocaud-Degrève (Université Lyon 2)

dans le cadre DTT : Atelier morphosyntaxe

This talk will attempt to give a preliminary account of the expression of negation in Bolivian guaraní, a tupi-guaraní language. Relying on elicitations for the most part, the goal is to start describing how are expressed different types of negation, but also to identify and classify the different negative markers present in the language.
