My research is grounded in a multidisciplinary approach, at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and psycholinguistics, and adopts a translational and translinguistic perspective. It aims to characterize the neurocognitive and sensorimotor mechanisms underlying language processes and is structured around two main research axes:

1) Through the lens of embodied cognition, I investigate the role of the sensorimotor system in the neurofunctional architecture of language, across phonological, semantic, and syntactic processing. From a typological perspective, I also seek to understand how embodied cognition can coexist with the diversity of the world’s languages (see cross-cutting theme COVALI).

2) My second line of research focuses on the role of brain rhythms, particularly motor rhythms, and temporal processing in speech decoding. I specifically examine the synchronization processes of brain oscillations with the rhythmic fluctuations of the speech signal in adults and children with typical and atypical language development.
