Scientific framework and objectives
Developmental disorders are often consider as standing on a continuum and it has been reported that among siblings one may be affected by autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and another by specific language impairment (SLI). Moreover ASD children are often affected by developmental coordination disorder (DCD). What does motor control tell us about communication disorders? Previously we have reported in SLI children specific motor impairment that seems to parallel their linguistic deficit (Roy et al., 2013). The next years will be devoted to examine motor disorder in ASD and DCD children to circumscribe the motor deficits specifically associated with developmental communications disorders.
